Celine Sleeveless Rashie Suit in Sapphire/Pearl
Celine Sleeveless Rashie Suit in Sapphire/Pearl
Constructed from fully lined 4 way stretch fabric our sleeveless rashie is ideal for water sports or when protecting your skin from the elements is paramount. A high snug collar, full length zip and comfortable leg and arm holes make this suit a breeze to get on and off. Can be worn without a bikini top underneath, but for extra support or the versatility of being able to wear partially or fully unzipped we recommend wearing a bikini top underneath.
☀️ Sun Protection & UV Coverage
Rashie suits and rash vests provide a physical barrier that reduces UV exposure to the skin they cover. The level of protection depends on the fabric's weave, colour, stretch, and condition. Our suits are designed to provide meaningful UV coverage when worn as intended.
No certified UPF rating has been independently tested for this garment. Until third-party UPF testing is completed and verified, we do not claim a specific UPF number. We will update this page as soon as certified results are available.
According to the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA), clothing is one of the most effective forms of sun protection — but fabric that is wet, stretched, or worn thin transmits more UV radiation than dry, unstretched fabric. A rashie suit does not eliminate the need for sunscreen on all exposed areas.
- Always apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen to all uncovered skin — face, neck, hands, and any exposed décolletage.
- Reapply sunscreen every two hours, or immediately after towelling off.
- Seek shade during peak UV hours (10 am – 2 pm daylight saving time / 11 am – 3 pm standard time), as recommended by ARPANSA.
📐 Coverage & Fit
The Celine Sleeveless Rashie Suit features:
- Sleeveless cut with a high snug collar for coverage of the neck and upper chest
- Fully lined 4-way stretch fabric for added opacity and freedom of movement
- A full-length zip with comfortable leg and arm holes — easy to get on and off
- A close, compressive fit — size up if you prefer a more relaxed feel
The sleeveless design leaves the shoulders and upper arms uncovered — apply sunscreen to these areas before heading out.
💧 Wet-Fabric & In-Water Behaviour
All swimwear fabrics transmit more UV radiation when wet and stretched — this is a property of textile physics, not a product defect. ARPANSA advises that a wet or stretched garment offers less UV protection than when dry and relaxed.
- Rinse with fresh water immediately after each use to remove salt, chlorine, and sand, which can degrade the fabric over time and reduce coverage.
- Do not wring or twist the garment — lay flat or hang in the shade to dry.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight when the suit is not being worn, as UV degrades elastane fibres.
🧼 Washing & Care
- Hand wash in cold water with a gentle swimwear detergent, or machine wash on a delicate/cold cycle in a mesh laundry bag.
- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or iron.
- Dry flat in the shade — heat and direct sunlight break down elastane and can fade colour.
- Avoid sitting on rough or abrasive surfaces (pool surrounds, sand) as this pills the fabric and reduces the integrity of the weave over time.
- Rotate between at least two suits if wearing daily — elastane recovers better with rest time between wears.
🌞 When Sunscreen Is Still Needed
Even when wearing a rashie suit, the following areas remain exposed or have reduced protection and require sunscreen:
- Shoulders and upper arms (exposed by the sleeveless design)
- Face (nose, cheeks, forehead, chin, lips)
- Neck and ears if the collar is unzipped
- Hands and wrists
- Feet and ankles
- Any area of the suit that becomes sheer when stretched
ARPANSA recommends using sunscreen as part of a combination of sun protection measures — clothing, shade, a broad-brimmed hat, UV-blocking sunglasses, and sunscreen — rather than relying on any single method alone. Visit arpansa.gov.au for the latest guidance.
